Red Panda

This is a red panda. They are a small arboreal mammal located in Asia. Their scientific name is Ailurus Fulgens.

Red pandas are very sweet looking animals, having white faces and a red coat with a dark underbelly and legs. They have a long striped tail which helps them balance. On the tail is roughly six bands of colour which helps them camoflauge. The red panda has short legs, with thick fur on them as well as on the pads of their feet. This helps them traverse ice as well as stay warm in cooler locations. Like the giant panda they have a 'thumb' which is an extension of the wrist bone, also like the giant panda they are very fond of bamboo.

The native habitat of the red panda is the Himalayas and China. They like temperate conditions and stay around the west of China, sometimes being found in India and Tibet.

Red pandas are solitary animals and only mix to mate. They are quiet as well, making few noises such as twittering and whistling. For the most part, they are nocturnal and crepsecular meaning that during the day they sleep in logs or in trees and become active at night.

That's all for these fuzzy creatures. I know this wasn't the longest post, but it's a good start to get back into the swing of things.
See you next time,
Dari!
